By Claude Walsh

Dropping by the drugstore or beauty store will reveal how many products for breakouts are around. But not all these can provide satisfactory results. Some of them, too, can be very expensive. So before burning a hole in your pocket, read on. The following are some tried-and-tested tips on how to reduce pimples the home-made way.

Some of the products available these days work by drying up breakouts. You can come up with a home-made version of those out of orange or lemon peel. Using your food processor, grind it and add a little amount of water to make a paste. Apply all over the face or only on the blemishes, leave on for a few minutes, then wash off with water.

It's lightly acidic, thus it can dry up those spots effectively. You may also apply it on scars left behind, particularly those darkened ones. Orange or lemon peel got bleaching effects on the skin. You may also dab apple cider vinegar or lemon juice onto your scars to help lighten them.

One of the reasons why breakouts appear is because of clogged pores. Such can be caused by excess oils and dirt. There are exfoliating scrubs out there which can help, but they may contain harsh chemicals. Come up with your own by mixing a quarter of a cup olive oil and a cup brown sugar. Just make sure you apply it on your face gently.

To further remove excess oils, you can use a face mask. To do this, open an egg and place its white part in a bowl. Beat it with a fork or whisk until it's frothy. Apply all over your face and let it stay there for a few minutes until the mask is taut. Rinse well with water. You may also use cooked oatmeal instead, but make sure it's cooled down.

Vitamin E supplement can also do wonders for the problem. How to reduce pimples with this is easy. Just get a capsule, prick it and smear the oil on your face. Perhaps there's aloe vera plant in the garden. Break off a leaf, then apply the gel in it on affected areas of the face.
