Different Nail Fungus Symptoms And Removal Solutions To Quickly Clear The Fungus

By John RG Johnson

A nail fungus can infect toenails and fingernails alike. But toenails are usually the prime targets for a nail fungus because of the environment your shoes and socks provide. Fungi loves dark and moist places. If you wear heavy shoes and socks that make your feet sweat you will be more susceptible to toenail fungus. However, you must remember there are other nail infections that can look like a fungal infection. You need to know how to recognize nail fungus symptoms if you want to find the proper treatment.

When you get a nail fungus the symptoms can be mild, or they may become severe. The first sign of a nail fungus is a change in the color of your nails. This may start at the farthest end of your nails and then work its way inward. Nails will start to turn yellow, or they may become brown. Occasionally, the nail may become all white. When the fungus gets beneath the nail it will become difficult to treat because the nail provides protection for the fungus.

As time goes on, your nail fungus symptoms will grow progressively worse. The nails may start to itch. This can be a very annoying problem because it is definitely hard to scratch under your nails. The nails will become thicker. As they grow thicker they will also become brittle. Eventually the nail will become so brittle it will begin to crumble. This can cause considerable pain if the nail falls off and leaves the sensitive nail bed exposed. You may also notice a foul odor coming from your nails.

As you consider treatment for a nail fungus you could go to your doctor and get a prescription. You just need to remember that these medications can take a long time to work, and they may produce side effects. You can try a few home remedies to treat your fungus. Soaking your feet in vinegar and water has been an effective cure for many individuals. Tea tree oil applied to the nails works well also. But you don't have to limit your treatment to prescriptions or home remedies. There are a few homeopathic medicines available that can be very effective at getting rid of your infection. Just make sure any homeopathic medicine you choose is made from essential oils, which can be absorbed by the body much easier.

If you have any of the above toenail or fingernail fungus symptoms then you should start a treatment as soon as possible. Once the fungus gets deep beneath the nail it will be much harder to get rid of. If this fungus is allowed to thrive under your nails for any length of time it can lead to more serious infections.
